Fire Prevention
An important service that the Allendale Fire Department offers is that of educating the public about fire safety. Firefighters regularly visit the elemantary schools within our jurisdiction to educate students in Fire Safety. Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, preschools, home school groups, churches, and other organizations visit our stations for tours. If you would like a tour of the fire station or would like to request our pressence for an educational purpose please call Fire Inspector Dave Pelton at (616)-895-6295 ext. 30 to schedule an event.
Fire Department "Safety Survey"
Fire Inspector Dave Pelton , is available to assist residents and businesses with fire evacuation plans and safety inspections, and can be contacted by calling 895-4544. The most important part of this survey would be to identify areas that may be in violation of Fire and Safety codes, and the action you can take to correct them. The Fire Department will advise you on things you may be able to do to help the fire department in an event that they are called to your business for a fire or medical emergency. This would be a non-binding survey except if major safety violation (s) are found. If major violations are found, it would require corrective action on your part. The Fire Department will also do "Follow-Up" surveys, upon your request, to review the corrective actions you have taken.
| Do it Yourself Home Safety You can even take part in doing your own safety inspection by downloading the Self Home Inspection Sheet, and checking off the items in your home. |
Keep the Fire Hydrants Clear in the winter
Do you have a fire hydrant in front of or near your home or business? Can you find it under the snow in the winter? Please help the Fire Department by keeping the snow cleared away from your fire hydrant. This will greatly help the fire department if it is necessary to use the hydrant for a fire at your home or one of your neighbor's home.

You can purchase yours from the Allendale Firefighters Assosiation. Signs cost $15 each, and order forms are available from the Allendale Fire Department or the Allendale Township office.
